Awesome Amigos!

Confirmation 2025
Congratulations to our 5th and 6th children who received the sacrament of Confirmation from Archbishop Francis Duffy in St. James' Church Easkey. Thank you to our Parents Association and all who helped prepare refreshments for the children and their families back in our school after the ceremony.

Indoor Hurling
We had a very enjoyable morning in Easkey yesterday where we played Enniscrone and High Park in an indoor hurling blitz. Well done everyone.

Signs of spring
At break we took some photos. We were very excited to spot a small nest in a tree in the front yard. We painted some lovely spring flowers in our art class.

STEM - 5th and 6th
This week in science we investigated polymers and how their molecular chains form seals when punctured by a sharp object. We tested this theory using a sharp pencil and a bag of water.

Creative Constructions!
Our 5th and 6th classes worked with artist Kiera O'Toole as part of the Blast Arts and Creativity in Education Residency. Over a number of days, the children used recycled materials to create some fantastic pieces of art.

FAI - 5 aside Soccer - Boys
It was a beautiful day for soccer in Cranmore. Our boys did the school proud and came tantilisingly close to qualifying for the next stage of the competition.

Creative Writing Workshop
3rd - 6th class had a very enjoyable day of creative writing with Pierina and Emily. Both classes used their imaginations to develop exciting food themed stories based in our local area!

STEM- Foil boats
We had great fun trying out a STEM challenge today in class. In groups we made a boat from tinfoil. The boat floated in water and we counted how many tens and units the boats could carry before they sank. We practised our skip counting in 10’s.

School Enrolment
We are really excited to be hosting our annual Enrolment Evening on Tuesday January 28th. We are really looking forward to meeting the children and parents in our community as they take the first step in their primary school education.

Christmas Charity Appeal

Plastic Bottle Return Bin
Thank you to the Parents Association who have organised the plastic bottle return bin as a fundraiser for the school. They have kindly undertaken to empty the bin on a regular basis. The Greenschools Committee are grateful for this initiative as we work towards our 10th Green flag. This scheme will raise funds for our school, reduce litter in our area and protect our environment. Did you know plastic bottles can be recycled up to 7 times and aluminium cans can be recycled inf

Art In The Classroom
We had great fun on Wednesday finishing our Scottish Giant puppet. We added hair, a beard and made the body. In the afternoon, we really enjoyed getting our puppet to move and perform!

History Field Trip
3rd - 6th classes went to Ballina on Friday for a historical treasure hunt of the town. We learned about Ballina's role in a number of important events in our history and we all had a very enjoyable day.

STEM Lego Floor Plans
We have been learning about homes and floor plans in geography this week. We worked in pairs designing a floor plan on paper and then created it using Lego. We had lots of fun.

Artist Visit
We were delighted to welcome Carmel Balfe back to our classroom where she is helping us construct our Scottish Giant for our latest art project!

Potato Harvest
We had great fun harvesting our potatoes. Our potatoes grew very well in the grow bags. We steamed the potatoes and served them with salt and butter and sprinkled some herbs from the garden. They were delicious.

Halloween Pumpkins!
We had a very exciting day on Friday. The children wore their Halloween costumes to school and also brought their pumpkin creations in for our annual competition. There was fantastic creativity. Well done to the prize-winners in each classroom. Thank you to our hard working Parents Association on organising this fun activity. Later in the day, we went to Kilglass for the Scary Wood Walk which was very spooky!

Garda visit
Local Gardai, Michael Kelly and Sean Campbell visited our 5th and 6th classes recently. They spoke to the children about staying safe this Halloween and also about staying safe on-line.
