Centenary Celebrations
Our centenary celebrations turned into a memorable day that brought together pupils, staff, families, and the wider community. The celebrations reflected not only the rich history of our school, but also the strong sense of belonging that continues to define it today. The day began with a beautiful Mass in the Star Of The Sea Church. Following the ceremony, celebrations continued back at the school, where refreshments were served by our hard working Parents Association. The

Science Afternoon
Our 5th and 6th class pupils recently carried out a series of fun and engaging science experiments, exploring key scientific ideas through hands-on learning. Dancing Raisins Pupils placed raisins in a glass of fizzy drink and observed them “dance” up and down. This happens because carbon dioxide gas bubbles stick to the rough surface of the raisins, lifting them to the top. When the bubbles pop, the raisins sink again. This experiment helped explain gas, density, and buoyancy

St Patrick's Day Parade
Our students proudly took part in the Easkey St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We celebrated our school's centenary year as we walked through the village. We brought history to life by showcasing the contrast between the pupils of 1926 and those of today, 2026. This display highlighted how much school life has changed over the past 100 years. In preparation for the parade and as part of our centenary celebrations, the children have been exploring what school was like in the past, lea

Gaeilge timpeall orainn
As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, Third and Fourth Class have been using their “Gaeilge eyes” to spot Irish in the world around them. The pupils looked carefully at their everyday environment and were delighted to discover so many examples of the Irish language all around us. The pupils took photos of their discoveries, which they were very proud to share. Well done to everyone for their great enthusiasm and keen observation skills!

Basket-Making Workshop
Today we were delighted to welcome Helena Golden to our school for a fantastic basket-making workshop. Third and Fourth Class had the opportunity to work with Helena to create their own handmade willow baskets. It was fascinating to learn about this traditional Irish craft and the skills involved in weaving willow. Helena also kindly showed our younger classes how to make a bird feeder using willow, which will be a lovely addition to our school garden. A big thank you to Hele

Pop Art
We have been exploring Pop Art. We looked at the work of Burton Morris. We looked at some of his most popular work: "Pop!" and "Coffee". We noticed how he uses bright colours and bold lines to make his art stand out. "Pop!" and "Coffee" by Burton Morris We made Valentine's hearts inspired by his work. We also looked at Andy Warhol's work. We noticed he repeats the same image in different colours to create patterns in some of his art work. Andy Warhol We made our own Andy Warh

Fireworks!
In January, we read a poem about fireworks. We talked about exciting words to describe them and then we wrote our own verses from the firework's perspective. To bring the poem to life, we made 3D fireworks inspired by the poem, experimenting with different paper techniques.
