We held our annual Sports Day before the summer holidays. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day with lots of fun team games and activities. We are very lucky to have the use of our yard, pitch and soft play area for these days.

Walk to the Shore
We recently enjoyed our annual end of year walk to the seashore to explore the local coastal environment. During the visit, the children observed a variety of plants and animals living along the shoreline and investigated different habitats, including rock pools and sandy areas. Basketball with The Razorbacks!
All classes benefited from six weeks of basketball coaching with Elijah Faapito from Sligo Razorbacks and Sligo Sports Partnership. Pupils improved their skills, fitness and teamwork, culminating in a very competitive yet enjoyable pupils-versus-teachers match!

Cycle Safety Training
5th and 6th Class recently completed a five-week Cycle Safety Training programme with Atlantic Sports Coaching. Throughout the course, pupils developed their cycling skills and learned important road safety rules, including correct signalling, safe positioning on the road, and how to identify potential hazards. The training helped to build the children’s confidence, independence, and awareness while cycling. It was an enjoyable and practical learning experience that will help

French In The Classroom!
As part of the Say Yes to Languages programme, 5th/6th class pupils participated in ten weeks of French lessons with Julien Porzadny. Learning French is helping our pupils develop communication skills in another language and also develops an appreciation of culture in another European country.

Centenary Celebrations
Our centenary celebrations turned into a memorable day that brought together pupils, staff, families, and the wider community. The celebrations reflected not only the rich history of our school, but also the strong sense of belonging that continues to define it today. Science Afternoon
Our 5th and 6th class pupils recently carried out a series of fun and engaging science experiments, exploring key scientific ideas through hands-on learning. Dancing Raisins Pupils placed raisins in a glass of fizzy drink and observed them “dance” up and down. This happens because carbon dioxide gas bubbles stick to the rough surface of the raisins, lifting them to the top. When the bubbles pop, the raisins sink again. This experiment helped explain gas, density, and buoyancy

St Patrick's Day Parade
Our students proudly took part in the Easkey St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We celebrated our school's centenary year as we walked through the village. Budding Entrepreneurs
Our 5th and 6th class pupils hosted a very successful school shop recently. They used their maths skills, communication and presentation skills and lots of creativity in developing their own business ideas. The school shop was the culmination of 8 weeks of hard work as part of the Sams Business Bus programme. Well done everyone!

Céilí Dancing
During Seachtain na Gaeilge, our senior classes have been learning some traditional céilí dances during PE. The pupils enjoyed practising Shoe the Donkey (Cur Crúb ar an Asal) and The Walls of Limerick (Ballaí Luimnigh) We were very lucky to have Mr. Neary accompanying us on the accordion as we danced. 5 Aside Soccer/GAA Amigos

Blast = Creative Classroom!
Blast = Creative Classroom! 5th and 6th class have just finished taking part in the BLAST Art and Creativity programme, working alongside artist Karen Webster. The pupils explored a wide range of artistic techniques, including watercolour painting, creating their own sketchbooks, and using beach materials and clay to design ephemeral artworks. LEGO Spike Kits
Our 3rd–6th class students enjoyed using LEGO Spike kits this month as they explored programming and engineering concepts. They designed and built a variety of models and then wrote code to make them move and respond using motors and sensors. They also learned how to debug their code by testing, identifying errors, and making improvements when things didn’t work as planned. Youth Sport West programme
3rd - 6th class pupils recently completed a brilliant 6-week multi-sports programme with Youth Sport West to promote increased participation in sport and physical activity. The children enjoyed basketball, athletics and olympic handball - building their skills, confidence and teamwork, all while having fun. Rathlee NS Science Fair 2025
We had an exciting day in Rathlee NS as our 3rd–6th class pupils proudly showcased their projects for our Science Fair, held as part of Science Week 2025. The event gave pupils the opportunity to become real scientists - investigating, experimenting, and sharing their discoveries with others. Each class began by presenting their experiments in their own classroom. Pupils demonstrated their work, explained the scientific ideas behind it, and answered questions from their peers
