The weather didn't get in the way as we had a thoroughly enjoyable Sports Day with lots of fun team games and activities. We are very lucky to have our yard, pitch and soft play area for these days.

Well done to our boys team on winning the Sligo Cuman Na mBunsol gaelic football shield final. We defeated Monasteraden NS in a closely fought battle, on a wet evening that could have gone either way. The boys and girls teams in our school have great potential. Keep training with Easkey Gaa and Eoghan Rua during the holidays!

Busy Bees! We had a great day with Peter Neary where we learned all about our native bees and the wonders of how honey is produced. It was fascinating.

We were delighted to welcome back Taragh Cosgrave from Edible Landscapes. Our 3rd and 4th classes weeded around our existing herbs and apple tree. They also planted lemon balm, honey berry and strawberry plants. We can't wait to sample the fruits of our labour!

Our Lorg Na Scealaiochta story telling trail took place in Kilglass Woods. The event was the culmination of two years of creative endeavours by our local schools. From puppet making to story writing, the Creative Cluster has been a fantastic success and a source of creative inspiration to the children in our school.

Our school currently has an art piece on loan from the Glucksman Exhibition. We are delighted to be involved with this creative initiative which is supported by the Arts Council. It has been a great stimulus and inspiration for the childrens' artistic activities.

All roads lead to Rathlee on Friday June 13th for our annual 5k fundraiser for our school. It is always a fun evening and is a great way for everyone in our school community to get together. See you all there!

Well done to our 4th, 5th and 6th class boys and girls who played against Curry NS. Both teams worked really hard in lovely, sunny conditions. Training continues every Monday after school.

The weather has been fantastic this week. We were able to transplant our peas and beans to our raised beds. We will be busy weeding and watering for the next few weeks!

The weather has been glorious the last couple of weeks and we have been on our school pitch practising our skills regularly. We have training every Monday after school and GAA coach John works with each class on Thursdays. We are really grateful to have such fantastic facilities.

Well done to the boys and girls who competed in the hurling amigos skills competition in very pleasant conditions at the Sligo GAA Centre of Excellence in Scarden.

We all love reading in Rathlee NS and this year's Book Fair has been a tremendous success. Thanks to everyone in our school community for your support.

Bonjour! Our 3rd - 6th class children have just completed a very enjoyable and useful series of French lessons with tutor Brendan Doyle.

We were delighted to participate in the Easkey St. Patrick's Day Parade. The children dressed up in environmental themed costumes and played their tin-whistles. Thank you to all who took part and all the staff in our school who helped on the day.

3rd and 4th class celebrated World Book Day by joining renowned author Anthony Garvey for a very enjoyable live book reading. Anthony talked about his life as an author and gave fantastic encouragement to the children.

Well done to our boys and girls teams who performed very well in the Cuman na mBunscol Amigos gaelic footballl skills competition held at Enniscrone GAA club.

At break we took some photos. We were very excited to spot a small nest in a tree in the front yard. We painted some lovely spring flowers in our art class.

3rd - 6th class had a very enjoyable day of creative writing with Pierina and Emily. Both classes used their imaginations to develop exciting food themed stories based in our local area!

We are really excited to be hosting our annual Enrolment Evening on Tuesday January 28th. We are really looking forward to meeting the children and parents in our community as they take the first step in their primary school education.

Thank you to the Parents Association who have organised the plastic bottle return bin as a fundraiser for the school. They have kindly undertaken to empty the bin on a regular basis. The Greenschools Committee are grateful for this initiative as we work towards our 10th Green flag. This scheme will raise funds for our school, reduce litter in our area and protect our environment. 3rd - 6th classes went to Ballina on Friday for a historical treasure hunt of the town. We learned about Ballina's role in a number of important events in our history and we all had a very enjoyable day.
