Our centenary celebrations turned into a memorable day that brought together pupils, staff, families, and the wider community. The celebrations reflected not only the rich history of our school, but also the strong sense of belonging that continues to define it today.

The day began with a beautiful Mass in the Star Of The Sea Church. Following the ceremony, celebrations continued back at the school, where refreshments were served by our hard working Parents Association. The sound of music added to the occasion, as children proudly showcased their talents, performing for parents, past pupils, and friends of the school.

A highlight of the day was the heritage area prepared to display a collection of historical photographs, documents, and artefacts.

A tree was planted by our oldest female past pupil Nellie O'Brien, Martina Ryan (who represented her uncle Jim Ryan who is the oldest past pupil) and our youngest current pupil Kayla Cavanagh.

Adding to the joy of the day was the beautiful weather, which allowed everyone to fully enjoy the celebrations.

The centenary celebrations were a wonderful reminder of the important role Rathlee NS has played—and continues to play—at the heart of the community. As the school looks to the future, it does so with pride in its past and confidence in the generations yet to come.
