We spent a very informative , interesting and enjoyable afternoon with Shona, an Education Officer for the Marine Explorers program.
The project is funded by the Marine Institute to educate and motivate children to look after our marine environment.
We learned about the 5 zones in the ocean and the fish who live in the different zones and how they have adapted to the different environments.
We drew pictures of fish from different zones and placed them on a prepared board.
Finally, we made Non- Newtonian Fluid to show how the cornflour and water mixture changes when handled just as the blubber fish when they are pulled up from the depths, with little internal structure to hold them together, their bodies collapse into themselves, giving them a melted appearance.
